Congratulations to our 2024 Recipient, Michelle Brown.
Michelle Brown is a leader in both her professional and personal lives. Michelle began her career in the military, where she was promoted quickly, rising to the rank of Captain in under four years. She returned to school and received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science as an adult learner while working full time. She is also a wife and mother.
At Associated Bank, where she is a Lead Business Analyst in the Finance area, Michelle has been called upon numerous times to be part of special projects. During her 15 years with Associated, she has been part of many significant efforts including remediation programs, acquisition programs, and technology refreshes. Michelle co-chaired the Associated Women’s Network and has been a member of their Young Professionals, Veterans Network, and Mentoring Program. She is also proud of earning her Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist Certification. Michelle’s efforts have been recognized with Associated Bank’s top-level awards including the 2022 President’s Award and the 2023 Circle of Excellence Award.
Professionally, Michelle’s mission is to have a career that fosters continual learning and uses and builds upon her strengths, which include strategic thinking, relationship building, and “getting things done.” She strives to do this with empathy, respect, fun, and a genuine appreciation for those who work and partner with her.
Michelle’s personal goals are to promote kindness, compassion, and empathy for others and to continue to learn and develop skills that will enrich her life. While she may not be front and center as a leader, Michelle says she is always willing to step in and help. In the community, she has served as the volunteer coordinator for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon and is a member of the Handbell Choir and the Women’s Group Committee at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Michelle and her husband, Dale, also serve as Mass sacristans and Eucharistic Ministers at Our Lady of Lourdes and are involved in activities through the Knights of Columbus. In addition, she has acted as the Bylaws Chair on the Management Women Board of Directors and is a longtime member of our Awards Committee.
Michelle’s advice to a woman launching her career today is this:
- Find your strengths and focus on cultivating and fine tuning them rather than trying to evolve your shortcomings.
- Define yourself by your core values and do not waiver from them.
- Listen more and speak less, as it empowers and engages others thus promoting teamwork.
- Be empathetic and patient with others.
- Always understand your audience when you communicate.
Congratulations Michelle! And thank you for all you do for Management Women and for our community.
